Seattle Agent Magazine recently highlighted the most popular emerging home trends for summer 2026, based on Houzz’s 2026 U.S. Emerging Summer Trends Report. The data comes from year-over-year growth in U.S.-based Houzz searches from January through March 2026 compared with the same period in 2025.
A major theme is warmth and softness. Homeowners are showing more interest in curved forms, including scalloped tile, arched range hoods, arched pantry doors, rounded kitchen islands and curved staircases. These details suggest a move away from hard edges and toward more inviting, comfortable interiors.

Texture is also having a mo#206696ment. Houzz reported increased searches for sandstone, linen wallpaper, Venetian plaster, seagrass wallpaper, travertine, terra cotta flooring, limewash paint and wainscoting. For sellers, that points to a broader buyer preference for homes that feel layered, natural and tactile rather than overly flat or minimal.

Color palettes are warming up as well. Earth-inspired shades such as rust, chocolate brown, mushroom, olive green, sage, taupe and cream are gaining traction, giving interiors a grounded and timeless feel.
One of the biggest surprises is the rise of dedicated gathering spaces. Seattle Agent Magazine noted that Mahjong rooms saw the largest increase among the trends featured, with related entertainment spaces such as card rooms, speakeasies, puzzle rooms, board game rooms and poker rooms also gaining popularity.
Wellness remains an important design driver. Searches for wellness rooms, calming spaces, biophilic design, spas, home gyms, sensory rooms and yoga rooms all rose, showing that homeowners increasingly want their homes to support rest, health and emotional well-being.
Sustainability is another clear priority. Houzz reported major growth in searches for solar energy, repurposed materials, low-voltage lighting, permeable patios, recycled glass countertops, native landscaping and bamboo flooring. These features may appeal to buyers who are thinking about long-term efficiency, environmental impact and lower-maintenance living.

Outdoor spaces are trending in two directions at once: compact and romantic. Many homeowners are looking for ways to make small front yards, courtyards, patio gardens and backyards more usable, while others are drawn to European-inspired outdoor spaces such as French courtyards, Italian courtyards and cottage-style patios.
For real estate, the takeaway is simple: buyers are responding to homes that feel warm, personal, functional and restorative. Thoughtful updates such as natural textures, softer shapes, cozy colors, efficient outdoor spaces and wellness-focused rooms can help a property feel current without chasing short-lived fads.
